33. Europe Bicycle Trip-Day 9-The Cheese Market at Alkmaar-Dane Stolen !

When the work of the men slowed down,I asked in Dutch if we could get a photo with Sarah and Dane. After the photo, I asked if we could have one with them and just Dane. The man on the left took Dane in his arms and then turned away and said he was keeping DANE. He ran a little way away to the laughing of the spectators and then put Dane down on a BIG cheese. We crept forward and took photos.
Stolen Dane retrieved from the cheese. Even Dane thought it was funny!
Sarah and Dane-cheese smiles
One of these big cheeses must be worth a lot of money!
After the first show, we walked around the whole square and realized that we had had front row seats. From this distance, the crowd can look at the TV screen on the right of the building. We were at the left of the building. People were already lined up for the next viewing.
At this end of the square the carts were bringing the cheeses to the trucks and the men were loading them on. That is the man that took Dane!
Hard work!
Away they go in the yellow truck!
A pretty Dutch girl with a lovely Dutch smile. The people are all friendly here and everyone says hello in Dutch as you pass them. SO NICE!
This girl is earning money for herself by having her photo taken in costume.
