Valeriia and Xavier in Toulouse

My couchsurfing hosts are Valeriia from Ukraine and Xavier from France.  They actually met through Couchsurfing. They are in their 30's  and move every year and a half to exprience new places.

I arrived just in time to catch them before they went out to an engagement. That quiet time gave me opportunity to shower and get some work done. My bedroom has a balcony with beautiful flowered trees under it.

I noticed lots of chicken decorations.

Two types of chickens in this photo

Both Valeriia and Xavier do part of their work from home

 They prepare meals together.
They visited Ukraine  this year. They bought a house for Valeriia's mother in a safe zone
Even then they could hear cruise missiles going over their heads and they were thinking that in a few seconds someone will die.

They had a bicycle trip cut short because of  Covid and  hope to cycle Israel and Jordan this year.
They made a delicious French supper of cucumber soup and a dish with French Rocamadour     cheese. After supper Xavier told me a few facts about Toulouse. It is called Airbus city because there are so many aircraft related jobs here. It is a rugby capital and it is also called the pìnk city because it was made from bricks and not from stones. It also has a high percentage of young people due to the university.

They have 3 chickens. This is  Louisa , a fluffy Dutch breed who lays smaller white eggs

This is Teresa who lays brown eggs.

This is Antoinette who is retired from laying eggs.

We had a nice breakfast outside with the chickens walking about.

Cuddling Teresa

Scrambled eggs thanks to the chickens!

Thank you very much Valeriia and Xavier for hosting me. May God bless you. May you stay safe and enjoy your upcoming bicycle trip.
