Capberné , a property and house from the 1800s

The front of the huge property owned by Jean-Noël and Dona. The house from the 1800s is set way back and has been in the family for generations. It has been renovated but keeping most of the original woodwork and plaster.   My original plan was to meet Jean-Noël and Dona here but I am early so I am thankful to be able to stay for a three day rest. It is like stepping back in time except for the excellent Wifi connection. I can just imagine a house full of 10 children living here many years ago.

The extra buildings for wood and machinery

Many huge trees

Walking along the side. It is typical light brown colour of most of the houses here with wooden shutters over all the windows and tile roofing.

Houses in France face east to the morning sun.  The grapes have been harvested already. The huge timbers supporting the loft  and terrace are all original and put together using wooden dowels.

Come on in!

The living room . When family  are here there are usually large carpets on the floor.

This is where the wifi works the best. The leather couch is comfortable.

The fireplace is new.

The dining room used to be grandmother's  bedroom.

The kitchen is old yet new- a wood stove but also a propane stove, a dishwasher but antique cabinets.

Even the tablecloth belonged to  the Grandmother.

With the old flax shirt that has the Basque logo - the language the grandmother spoke

Silver is happy in the laundry room with Jean-Noël and Dona's tandem.
