150. Europe Bicycle Trip--Pinkster Day Along Canal du Rhone au Rhin

Today is a holiday called Pinkster Day (Pentecost).  It is Monday, June 9th and Day 54 of my trip. I have decided to stay in France for the morning following the Rhone-Rhine canal to Strasbourg and cross back over the Rhine into Germany in the afternoon.
These are the markings on the road that indicate upcoming curves.
The Rhone-Rhine canal is a significant waterway of France, that can be considered to connect  the Rhine and the Rhone, and thereby the North Sea and the Mediterranean.
Some big boats were moored to the sides.
There were small locks once in a while.
The path was nicely paved and perfectly straight.

After going through the areas of Boofzheim, Obenheim, Gerstheim, and Erstein I came to the outskirts of Strasbourg.
A rower on the smooth waters of the canal
There were several  rowing shells going in both directions.
As I entered Strasbourg an old protective wall surrounded one of the first places.
A stately old building

The tourists are disembarking from the sightseeing boat in one of the canals in the city.
This narrow street was the way to the city centrum.
