Thursday, Sept. 5th, 2019 Day 6 of Bike-Barge trip-Alkmaar to Zaanse Schans

In the morning we set off on our bicycles from Alkmaar. 
Shortly after we passed a windmill in the distance.

Later there was a row of three windmills.

At one spot we stopped to look at an old pump station ...

...which was now a cafe called Café de Pomp.

The new modern pumping station was behind it.

Morning coffee and tea was at Schermerhorn at Cafe's Lands Welvaren run by Kees and Angelique van Ettenand. Angelique didn't have much notice of our arrival, so I offered to help her serve.



Today Josephine and I had apple tart with whipped cream.

We came to the windmill that we were going to tour. It had rained before we came and continued to do so during the tour. The photo shows the water level.
