Friday, September 13th, 2019 Carla's Surprise Retirement Party

Carla was asked earlier in the week by her sister, Yvonne, to take her mother out this afternoon. It was all a ploy to make sure Carla was out of the house so her work mates could decorate outside for a surprise retirement party for her. I helped to blow up balloons, bring down chairs, put away the cake, locate a vase for flowers and other little chores. There were about 15  of her friends all of whom were females  except one guy.

Carla was very surprised when she came home. She had no idea at all about the party. While we waited for her arrival we had all had enough time to chat and have a drink already.

We were sitting outside on the patio by the big wooden table.

It was very festive and while the sun was still shining, it was nice and warm.

The dogs and the cat were also wandering around.
A speech was made and a beautiful bouquet of flowers was presented.

Then we all talked for quite a while.

Dick and I thought it was going to be a BBQ but we were wrong.

A van pulled up and brought delicious trays of all sorts of meats and vegetables.

There was also hot chicken on a stick with peanut saté and meatballs.

Everyone stood up and moved around the table filling their plates.

We ate and talked and visited.

Carla gave some of the guests a tour of the yard.

I brought up the cake.

It was getting cool after the sun went down so it was decided to move the festivities inside.

I helped serve tea and coffee and Carla cut the cake.

It was delicious.

With Dick's permission, I gave everyone my 2 cards.

It was a great retirement party and a great evening.

May you have a wonderful retirement, Carla. Enjoy!
