Day 64-Moving to drier conditions

Day 64 Sunday, July 11, 2010 Today is a rest day as we are waiting to take the ferry tomorrow morning. It rained during the night and morning but our little tent is under the canopy as opposed to the others in the tent row so we are relatively dry. In the middle of the morning there was a slight break in the weather, so we exited the tent and had breakfast, and I did a blog while Dave showered. He asked the owner if we could sleep in the bottom of the barn tonight. That is the room where there is an air hockey game, a table soccer game, shuffleboard, board games, exercise machines, a few weights, two Jacuzzi tubs and a kitchen area. That would really help us out in the morning as we would be dry and be able to pack faster for our 5:30 am. departure to be at the ferry an hour and a half early as required. He said yes to our relief. I took a few photos of some of the old cars that came in later last night that were now leaving for the day. Victor and Vivienne, from Pugwash, Nova Scotia, have a 1931 Chev that he did all the work on. We ordered lunch from the little canteen. A hamburger and fries-yum yum! Then we moved all of our belongings and bicycles into the barn in an out of the way spot. In the afternoon, we mentioned in the office that if they heard of anyone going to the grocery store, we wouldn't mind a ride. We went in to watch the final game of the World Cup Soccer between The Netherlands and Spain. Harry and his wife, Natalie, from North Sydney were also in there and he is an avid bicycle collector specializing in old bicycles. He is very friendly and very knowledgeable. Another man, camping there for a while from PEI offered to take Dave to the grocery store at the same time as Harry did so that was great. Dave left with Harry and on the way back had a tour of Harry's house and all his bicycle paraphernalia. We had supper together in our private little kitchen-a salad in a bag, little tomatoes, and a bun with ham and cheese. We set up our mattresses on the floor and then went upstairs for an hour to listen to some of the local musicians jamming. Then it was off to bed and killing some of the earwigs that keep crawling out of our belongings.
