Day 9- Worst road ever !

Day 9 Monday, May 17, 2010 Distance 48.53 Time 2 hrs. 41 min Total distance 644.50 From outside Chelsea to the end of the village of Manchester has to be some of the worst road surface that we have ever bicycled on. Yesterday it caused me to get a flat tire on my rear wheel. After Dave turned Silver over for me, I did most of the work. We are both happy with the big pump although it is heavy. It works so much better than our little ones. Sometimes the road conditions depend on the county that you are in. I guess the poor areas just can't afford the complete repair. My body, mind, and spirit cheered a great hooray after we took a shortcut through Manchester and came back out on Hwy 52 and it was smooth again. After that it was easy going over rolling hills to Adrian. However the sky was getting overcast and it was getting cooler. We stopped at Walmart and talked to Dan and Jamie for quite a while. They think that what we are doing is awesome. Just as we headed out of town, it started to sprinkle and we headed back to a motel that we had just passed but they wouldn't rent us a room because they were going somewhere so we biked a little farther back and are staying at the Super 8. We have decided to stay here 2 nights as we think we need to clean up and have a rest day and a day to do some laundry. It was a good decision because as I sit here typing this, it is pouring rain outside!
