Day 2 -Gorgeous weather
Day 2, Monday, May 10, 2010 Distance 71.39 km. Time 4 hrs. 15 min. Total so far: 176.05 km. We had a slow start this morning not leaving until almost ten. I captured the log skidder sled at the entrance of the campground on camera. In Cheboygan, we stopped at Walmart to buy lunch food and biked a little farther to the Cheboygan River for lunch. The rail trail here was quite rough so we stuck to the road which improved after a while. We're sticking basically to Hwy 33 going down through Michigan. We enjoyed my new ipod speaker for an hour of "airy" music while cycling in the afternoon. Just outside Onaway, we had our pictures taken with Abe Lincoln and George Washington. Everyone in town said it was going to rain 100% tomorrow so we decided to get a room at Lyons Motel where we met the cat, Sally. We got hypothermia once on the west trip and don't want to repeat that.

sounds like a good start! it's nice to see so many updates, so soon- mom, you must be outdoing yourself!
ReplyDeleteglad to hear you're playing it by the locals and by ear and body- although, that cat is a horrid furball- can you imagine the dander?
seth had his baseball tryouts yesterday night, and while the fundamentals of hitting and catching are still coming (he hit/caught about half that came his way) he is one of the largest boys or girls there. telling him that puffed out his chest, and he is excited for more...
amara just wants to play basketball with the boys, as always...
much love and warmth- stay safe and dry.
