Day 103- Family Barbecue

Day 103 Thursday, August 19, 2010 We had another good night of sleep and will have an extra day of rest today. Hooray! In the morning, I worked on blogs, and Diane and I babysat Tryne while Sarah and Dave went shopping. I also boiled and peeled potatoes and eggs and cut celery, carrots and onions for a potato salad. Diane spoke to Jordan on I Chat and also studied for her exam. We had a nice lunch of leftovers and also had a nice chat with our son, Matthew. Sarah and Tryne spoke with Chris on Skype. He is in Alberta until the end of the month. The weather changed during the day and when we got Tryne ready after her nap for our outing, it started to thunder, lightning and pour rain. We headed off across the river into Ottawa to the Nepean section. The power was out there so progress was very slow because at every stop light the cars were observing the 4 way stop rules. We also passed one accident. Tryne was very good amusing herself with her car seat toys. Finally, we arrived in Nepean, at my niece, Sarah‘s house for a family barbecue. It was really nice to see everyone. My sister Josephine, her husband John and their three daughters, Julianne, Stephanie and partner Jeff, and Sarah and Paul, and their two children, Harrison (3) and Elliott (2 days younger than Tryne). Also there visiting Ottawa from Windsor was my youngest sister, Michelle, and her daughters Brianne, Tarryn, and Hailey. They have certainly grown up since the last time we saw them! We had a very enjoyable, noisy visit, and a delicious BBQ meal. Time went quickly and soon it was after Tryne’s bedtime so we said goodbye and headed back to Chelsea. She fell asleep in the car and the power was back on so it was a quick and quiet ride back. We had a short visit with Diane and Gordon, took some family photos, I finished a blog and we went off to that beautiful bed. My dreams lately are of riding my bicycle on that nice mattress!
