Day 102 - Visiting with Alison & Richard

Day 102 Wednesday, August 18, 2010 Today is a well deserved and long awaited rest day for us and what a nicer place than Gordon and Diane's in Chelsea and also in the company of my daughter Sarah and granddaughter, tired travelling Tryne. We only slept in a little because babies wake up early! In the morning, Diane made us a nice breakfast of bacon and eggs and Tryne got all our attention as she ate in her high chair. Diane also was chatting with her son, Jordan, on the computer. Jordan has just arrived a couple days ago in Korea where he will be teaching English. So far, he is quite overwhelmed and the contact with his family by computer is helping a lot. He is crazy about Tryne, and makes Donald Duck sounds for her that make her laugh. In the morning, during Tryne's nap, Sarah typed blogs for me that I dictated to her. She is way better at typing than I am! I did a load of laundry while Dave cleaned his bicycle. In the afternoon, I had a nap at the same time as Tryne. What a luxury that was and I felt much better for it. Then we headed outside to get in the car that Gordon had lent to Sarah to use this month and guess what - the battery was dead! Somehow by accident, the lights had turned on yesterday without her realizing it. Thankfully, Gordon had bicycled to work and their other vehicle was there so Diane said to use it. Sarah drove us over the bridge to Ottawa and Tavistock Street where our niece, Alison, and her husband, Richard, and 5 year old Maxwell and 2 year old Elizabeth, live. We had a very nice visit. We haven't seen them since last fall and the children have really grown taller since then and Elizabeth has learned to talk and is very clear with all her words and Max is as loving and affectionate as ever. Richard is always working in the yard improving it, and Alison is still looking tired from her time in BC when her father passed away. It was really nice to see them all again. We left in time to get back to Diane's supper of side ribs, brown rice, salad, and ice cream bars for dessert. I did a blog and then really looked forward to sleeping in that bed again.

  1. YA! Great post mom! I love your pictures, especially the one of Tryne on the floor with just pants on trying to pull open the drawer! Tryne is down for a nap and then we're off for a run to Carleton to hand in some forms for her Dada. Hope you guys are enjoying your day with Melissa and the girls. Sorry I missed your call, still getting used to a different ring tone! Try again! Miss you and Love you! Sarah
