Day 13-Rain, rain and more rain!!

Day 13 Friday May 21, 2010 We woke up to a drizzle and decided to wait it out but it increased in intensity again and again and we were stuck in the tent until about 1 pm. During that time Dave got a fright as just after he made an attempt to go the washroom from the tent, the sheriff drove up. We didn't think we were illegal according to the sign. Well, he wasn't even concerned with us but wanted to know if we had seen someone dumping brush. We said we had only seen a white truck there but because of the rain we hadn't seen what they did. Later in the day the rain stopped and we pulled things out of the tent to dry as water had come through in spots. After that it was too late to leave. I went for a walk around the reservoir which is about a mile around. Karma came to talk with us. She is a retired special education teacher who lives with her dog and 13 cats in a refurbished barn. She invited us over but it looked like rain again and we usually don't back track. Steve is a young fellow with a wife and two boys holding down two jobs and felt he needed to talk with us to try to learn to slow down his life. I had waved to Bob while he was out in his kayak fishing. He was all rigged up with 2 lines and a fish finder. He came around after to talk as he and his wife have cycled from Sandiago, California to Florida and from Seattle to Denver. Much to my chagrin, as I went to check on Silver just before turning in---You guessed it---the back tire was flat. Now I am starting to get just a little annoyed with this. I also learned something that I need to remember each time--put on the tire in the proper direction of rotation!!
