Day 108- Day 2 at Melissa's
Day 108 Tuesday, August 24, 2010 The babies had a rough night last night for some reason (probably teething) so they were sort of grumpy this morning but they sure ate well -scrambled eggs, cottage cheese and grapes. I did a load of laundry and cleaned Silver although she probably needs someone to look at the front gears. We can’t put Silver on the top of Melissa's vehicle's bike rack because of the front panniers which are too bad. Melissa took the morning off. At 11 am., we headed to Belleville, leaving Dave behind with Daffy and the 5 cats to have a quiet afternoon to clean Blackie. Melissa dropped the girls off at Bridgett’s, the babysitter, whose parents we visited in Chester Bay, Nova Scotia. It was nice to meet her and her little 2 year old, Seamus. He was quite excited to see the twins. The girls go there twice a week while Melissa goes to her job as a physiotherapist in Nursing homes- Quinte Gardens in Belleville. She walked me to MacDonald's because I was going to spend the afternoon there doing blogs on the internet but we found out that they don’t have it and neither did Tim Horton’s. A lady there with a nice English accent told us to try Starbucks so Melissa drove me there and for 2 and ½ hours I spent time publishing blogs. I transferred the typing I had done and then loaded pictures. From there, we went to A &W for some lunch and then picked up Kate and Izzy who hadn’t slept. They fell asleep in about 2 minutes in the car which squelched our plans to take pictures at the retirement home by the flowers and a cute bicycle. We headed home instead which was a 50 min. car ride. They woke up when the car stopped. We changed them into some dresses Melissa got from Mexico when they were born and did a photo shoot by the side porch. Then we took off the dresses and they played naked in their beautiful princess pool which has a nice sunshade. They crawl in and out, in and out and in and out and enjoy every minute of it. They look funny when they crawl on the grass because they don’t put their knees down and just walk on their hands and feet. Later, I watched them play in the gated off front porch while Melissa made supper. Her girls are good eaters of food like eggs, cheese, yogurt, cottage cheese, lasagna, salmon, blueberries and so on. She has saved lots of money by never buying baby food but starting them from the food she and Chris eat. When they are full or don’t like something, they like to throw it on the floor, so I sat in front of them on a little stool and said lots of “ No, don’t do that. Give to Gramma" and by the third day they started to catch on. The dog, Daffy, is told to lay back a ways and can only come to clean up after the girls are cleaned up and out of their chairs. The cats sometimes take part in this cleanup also, especially the night salmon was for supper. After their supper, I watched Melissa give them their bath and then I got to comb their hair into curls. We had a late supper, found a problem with our computer, finished two more blogs on Melissa's computer, Chris played guitar for a while and we all retired (h0pefully) for the night.
