Day 107 Monday, August 23, 2010 Rest Day at Melissa's. The twins came in our bedroom and played with us this morning for a while. I made scrambled eggs for breakfast which they also enjoyed. Dave got upset because he had to make his own. They have little chairs that sit on the floor and the dog, Daffy, waits obediently until they are done and then licks all the food and crumbs that fall on the floor and in the chairs. She has never had it so good. Melissa managed to figure out how to do a blog on her dial-up computer but it involves typing everything over again which is time-consuming. Not only have I been keeping a daily blog during this trip, but Melissa has also been keeping a daily journal for us about the twins and their progress during the summer. She gave this gift to me this morning. It is full of pictures and stories, and tells us the progress of Kate & Izzy from sitting to crawling to standing and all the different foods they have tried, and all the people and places they have experienced this summer. Thank you Melissa! We will treasure it! After the girls' nap and snack we drove in to Cobourg to Canadian Tire to pick up Heet and bicycle cleaner, and to Walmart to do groceries. The twins have a red flyer wagon that Chris put seat belts into so they are tied down and face each other, and I pulled the wagon in the stores while various people commented on how cute they were. They behaved really well, and after Melissa nursed them in the family washroom, they fell right asleep in the car on the way home. Since Melissa lives in the country, we left them in the car while we unloaded and put the groceries away, and kept checking on them until they woke up. Then they played in their sectioned off part of the downstairs while we prepared supper of chicken, mashed potatoes, sweet corn, and salad. We also talked to Sarah on the phone. Kate & Izzy chewed forever on half a cob of corn each, and loved it! We took lots of pictures. They needed a good bath after their supper. I gave them a tooth-brushing lesson while they were in the tub. In the evening after the twins were asleep, Dave & Chris worked on Dave's broken bicycle light, and we looked at pictures from the twinfant birthday party at the Cobourg beach in July. Melissa has done a good job of taking many photos from the first year and not only are they on the computer, but she also has some in photo albums. Chicken, the most elusive and shy of their five cats, came out for a visit on the counter. Somehow with twins, even when you don't ride a bicycle, you are very tired at the end of the day!
