Day 104- Goodbye Quebec- Hello Ontario
Day 104 Friday, August 20, 2010 Distance: 100.32 km. Time: 5 hr. 35 min. Total so far: 7321.96 km. We got up before six to say goodbye to Gordon. I went outside and packed the back of my bicycle and then went back inside and made myself two eggs and toast for breakfast. Then I finished packing the front of my bicycle and we were ready to go! We took some goodbye photos with Sarah and Tryne and were off. Following various bicycle paths and roads, we crossed the Champlain Bridge and entered into Ontario, and Ottawa. We did part of this route last summer before the twins were born so we followed the same bicycle paths along the Ottawa River until we heard about construction on the path and rode on Carling Ave up to Moodie Rd where we again joined with a path leading to Stittsville. It had rained and parts of the path were soft, so at Robertson Rd. we left the path and went on the road. The road was pretty good at first but became terrible and full of bumps. Finally we were on Richmond Rd. which was good. At one point we passed the Munster Village sign (where Josephine lives). It was only 4 kms away. We stopped for lunch in Richmond at a ValuMart store. Later we took Hwy 10. It had no shoulders but traffic was light and the drivers were polite. We are not looking forward to the Ontario roads with all their cracks and no shoulders. It was a nice afternoon and the wind was good and we made good time. We had our breaks every hour, and arrived in Perth and found the Last Duel Park campground that we had stayed at last year during our 8-day bicycle trip that we took before the twins were born. The ground was very wet from all the rain, but we found a site and set up. Dave went off to the grocery store. Suppertime was a fight with the mosquitoes that I think we won.
