Margot and Pauline were here right at 9 am. this morning and we drove to Rotterdam. All the places seem so far by car but so close by bicycle paths.
Tante Betty who drove here on her own looks nice in her scarf.
Carola made a delicious almond paste and walnut cake.
We had tea and coffee and cake together.
Mariette was with us today also.

An old warehouse in Katendrecht is being redeveloped and now has apartments on the upper floors
In the same area, they have made Deliplein-an old building that has been transformed into Fenix Food Factory-a sort of market selling meats, cheeses, baking, a beer brewery and much more.
We are standing on the bridge between Wilhelminaplein and Katendrecht. It is sometimes known as the 'whore' bridge. In the past the area was known for it's sailors' nightlife and brothels and a Chinatown but now it has been redeveloped.

Then we went by water taxi to another part of Rotterdam since Josephine and I have already toured the centrum area on previous trips.

Then we went for a nice walk.
We crossed a bridge by a water pump station and I saw these two swans sleeping.

This is a very green area with lots of mature trees and bushes.
Forcing the branches of trees to grow in a straight line
As we walked, we came toward two windmills.
At Restaurant de Tuin by one of the windmills, we had a nice lunch outside on the terrace by the water.
Our restaurant from the front
A mobike. At one spot, we met Tessel, Mariette's daughter, who is studying Fiscal Accounting here in Rotterdam.
We took two trams across the city and then walked a short distance back to Carola's house and sat in the backyard for a drink.
It was a nice time together with Tessel telling us about her courses.
Just as we were leaving, Richard arrived home and we were able to say hi and bye all too quickly.
Thank you Carola for the day in Rotterdam. Thank you Tante Betty for driving here and joining us for the day.
The rest of us continued walking along nearby. We found Restaurant Okay.
We ordered supper. I just ordered a children's meal and a pepsi. Here in Europe the pops are very small but the children's meals are very large.
After the meal, we said goodbye to Mariette and Tessel and walked back to our car for the ride home. On the way, while we were stopped at a traffic light, Margot witnessed a girl on a bicycle go falling down some steep stairs. We could not stop but saw many people running towards her.
In Hoofddorp, I invited Margot and Pauline in and gave them a tour of Dick's house. Dick and Carla were just finishing their supper.
