It is our last day of cycling. Only Mary and Anita are staying on the barge today as it travels to Amsterdam. We are bicycling toward a defense museum of Amsterdam.
Riding in the countryside is so nice.
We were early for the museum so we did an extra little round of bicycling into the country to a windmill. We also did a couple videos of the group for me. I asked them to leave spaces and say their name as they go by.
...and then returned back to Fort K'ijk
Fort Krommeniedijk
Low and made of stone, it is one of the many defense forts built around Amsterdam to protect the city in case of invasion.
We had an audio tour of the inside. This chart shows the defense forts with Amsterdam in the middle.
Only certain kinds of houses and heights of houses could be built near these forts.

We have enjoyed our packed lunches this week.
Ada and her daughter, Diana
A stand that sold all kinds of Oliebollen
I had a krentenball.
Sietse had a Berliner.
Which way should I go?
Josephine and I went for a walk and stopped to look in a toy store.
Small 3 wheeled electric car
We bicycled past a 4 km. stretch of road that had many old houses.
I took photos on the move with my little camera.

Coming into Zaanstad
I love this scene.

Cows in the fields
Some racers passing by
Our group was stopped on a country path because Sietse was cleaning all the pulleys and lubricating chains before we returned to the barge. I saw Bert coming along and asked if I could escort him through our group. We had a lovely chat and I gave him my cards. In retrospect this would also have been a good time to play Dutch kerimus music.

Finally we came to Amsterdam and the rented bicycles were taken away. I took the bags off of Silver, pumped her tires and lubricated the chain. Then after changing clothes, I went upstairs to wait for our last supper.
