12. Europe Bicycle Trip--A morning stroll around Akersloot
This morning, on Sat.April 19 (although it is April 29th as I type this), We went with Margot for a stroll around Akersloot finishing with a tour of a windmill (next blog). It was a fresh, cool morning with a little wind. We walked to the lake and that it when I found out that my suitcase had arrived in Holland. I jumped for joy. We were to expect it today sometime. We passed the area where Margot brings her school children to play and many cyclists went by that were doing a long 100km. ride. I danced in front of the man playing the accordion for the bicyclers at their refreshment stop. We stopped at the bakery to say hello to Margot's daughter Linde who was working. It was
busy. The butcher shop where another daughter, Inge, works was even
busier so we just said hello. We also passed a man who had built his own
boat. All the houses are neat with tidy little yards. Then we came to
the windmill after passing many houses with horse decorations on them.
After completing our bike trip to the West coast and back two summers ago, we are now heading East! We hope you'll follow our progress over the next...well, who knows how long! We'll be sharing our adventures on this blog to keep you all updated. We live in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario Canada. Dave is a retired Physical Education, Science and Math secondary school teacher. I was a qualified Physical Education teacher who decided to stay home to raise our five children, Caroline, Melissa, Matthew, Emily and Sarah. We also have ten grandchildren, Amy and David, Seth and Amara, twins Kate and Isabelle and sister Julia and Tryne and her brothers Soren and Dane. They are spread from Wisconsin in the west to Peterborough and Ottawa-Gatineau in the East. Our family has been quite involved with cross country running and cross country skiing. We started 5 years ago with i day bicycle trips and then 3 day trips and then our big trip out west and back. We hope to go east and back and finish our cross country bicycle tour this summer. We are born again Christians and have put our route and safety in the hands of the Lord Jesus. We would also appreciate everyone's prayers. Enjoy!!
