Day 1 ,Sunday, July,14,2013

Ashland to Barnes 80km in 5 hr.

It was dull and overcast in the morning and the forecast was for thunder storms in the afternoon. I was itching to go and debated for 2 hours and finally decided to start. I did great on the big hill Caroline told me about. I had a snack in Grandview and talked to Carol and her dog. At lunch in Drummond, I had really tight quads and strtched a lot and took a long rest.I talked to some motorcyclists there. I made it to Barnes and couldn't find the park so I camped in a treeplanted field.

I had breakfast in the Retreat Center with a couple of new counsellors. After Amy said all her good byes , we were off but she couldn't sleep because she had so much to talk about. We had lunch at Macdonald's in Ironwood and arrived in Ashland around 2 to a house full of camping equipment. Tomorrow , they will leave for Sault Ste. Marie and Lake Superior Provincial Park for a week. I packed Silver, they packed their dry bags and David ran around with his friends filling water balloons and making a shower at the tree house.

I cleaned Silver yesterday and need some lube for brakes and derailleurs. I\ may leave Friday if I can overnight at Amy,s bible camp.

Monday, July 8th,2013

The two weeks of cottage summer fun with my 10 grandchildren has come to an end and now I have one week to clean the house and pack the bicycle panniers for the |Wisconsin trip. I am practising with the GPS and also thee small computer with the maps. I'm still trying to figure out how I can carry it all. I wanted to try Dave's Arkel bags because they go on and off easier but they don't fit my front racks and the back ones are heavier than mine and don't seem to hold as much as easy as mine.

SOLO WISCONSIN BICYCLE TRIP, 2013

June 21,2013

This is the first attempt at getting back on our little computer and back on our blog. I will have to acquaint myself with all the new changes and learn how to upload photos again. Okay, that first one went well. But I haven't had luck changing the text size.  I am still in preparation phase and have 2 weeks coming up of grandchildren visits so I can keep playing with this during that time. I have done lots of bicycling and spin classes and Silver is loaded with bags and all tuned up and raring to go.

March 24, 2012

Well winter was not very hard this year at all and we had a very warm March so it is time to start thinking about bicycling again. Last month, I read the book, Cycling Home From Siberia by Rob Lilwall and really enjoyed it. I have been doing the spin classes at the Y when I can fit it in but going to Wisconsin for March break and having Sarah and Caroline come to visit after and being very sick has slowed my progress. I hope that I get better soon.
