100. Europe Bicycle Trip--Day 34--Today is Bourtagne Day

Today was Day34, Tuesday, May 20 th and everyone has gone to work and school and I worked on blogs most of the morning and took a break in the middle to take Tungsten for a walk. I also did a load of laundry and hung it outside. In the afternoon, Mariette took me to Bourtagne which was about half an hour north of Ter Apel. Bourtagne is a star fort built back in 1593 during the Dutch revolt. The word "tange" means sand ridge and This fort town was built on a sand ridge. It was used until 1851 and restored in 1960 and is now an outside museum.

It has it's own windmill.

Mariette by the oldest Protestant church in Groningen.

The "turfschuur" where they stored and dried animal dung which was used for fuel.
