Day 56- Crockett community park
Day 56 Saturday, July 3, 2010 Distance 99.57 km. Time 4 hr. 46 min. Total so far 3926.08 km. A deer watched as we got everything loaded this morning. We were only on busy Hwy. 118 for a little while . If you look at the map, then we turned to Hwy. 212, followed by 357, 336 and 289. We passed through many small places that were made up of just a few houses such as Wyses Corner, Elderbank, Middle Musquodoboit, Elmsvale, Upper Musquodoboit, Dean, Newon Mills and Eastvale. First we saw lots of cedar bush, then lots of farmland. The road was fairly good and not busy at all. The undulating hills were easy to get up with a little speed from the downhills. In Middle Musquodoboit, where we had a snack, we talked to Lynda. She rode a lot when younger and told about how guys would try to slap her butt which she did not appreciate. She also had a very bad fall when she didn't approach a railroad track at 90 degrees. She says her biking gloves saved her hands. She likes to ride her mountain bike now on bicycle trails. At 99 km. we saw Crockett community park and decided to stay. Owner, Paul, came over on a 4 wheeler and welcomed us. He gets grants from the government to help with the upkeep. We set up right in the gazebo after doing some resealing of the tent seams. The washrooms are extremely clean with a guest book, photos and a Nova Scotia tourism book. There is a clean, low running river behind the park where we both washed. The whole park was still decorated from Canada Day celebrations so there was a festive feeling to our stay.
